Enjoy Delicious Energy-Boosting New Menu Items and Other Tasty Choices at Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes
2009 Resolutions Made Easy and Inexpensive with X-Treme Spice Vegetable Chili, Fiesta Couscous, Banana Crunch Muffin Tops and More
January 6, 2009 (SAN DIEGO) — After indulging over the holiday, consumers everywhere are preparing for the new year with resolutions about their diet and their budget. Introducing new deliciously wholesome and energy-filled menu items, Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes is inviting guests to realize their 2009 resolutions about eating better on a budget by visiting one of its nearby restaurants around the country.
In fact, the all-you-care-to-eat and convenient one-price format at Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes means that guests can stay on track with their 2009 goals all year long with a variety of menu options that are all made-from-scratch.
To start, the popular restaurant chain is introducing X-Treme Spice Vegetable Chili with Energy Boost in January. According to Joan Scharff, executive director of brand and menu strategy for Garden Fresh Restaurant (parent company to Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes), the tasty new menu item is “not only hearty and nourishing for the winter, it will raise your energy level and be kind to your waistline and wallet.”
A bowl of X-Treme Spice Vegetable Chili with Energy Boost combines fresh-cut onions, celery, zucchini, yellow squash, green bell peppers and red bell peppers with juicy ground tomatoes, black beans, kidney beans and brown rice. The chili is seasoned with cumin, oregano and garlic and, for an added “kick,” features jalapeno peppers and green chilies. A unique ingredient in the Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes X-Treme Spice Vegetable Chili is its proprietary Energy Formula with Vitamin B1 to convert glucose into energy, Vitamin B3 to help metabolize fats and carbohydrates and stabilize blood sugar, and Vitamin B6 to promote healthy brain function.
Various energy-rich whole grain menu items will also be featured at Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes in January, including Whole Grain Fiesta Couscous, Whole Wheat Biscuits and 100% Whole Wheat Tomato Spinach pasta, as well as 100% Whole Wheat Arugula Citrus prepared salad.
Other delicious treats available at Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes throughout the month include Banana Crunch Muffin Tops and Blackberry Açaí Vitamin Water. Health professionals cite Superfood Açaí as a powerful antioxidant and recommend potassium from bananas to maintain normal nerve and muscle function.
“Our formula in creating menu items relies on being responsive to our guests’ needs. As we start the new year, this means caring what goes into our guests’ bodies and what comes out of their wallets without compromising taste,” said Scharff. “Our restaurants provide the great balance of fresh, wholesome, variety and value, which makes new year resolutions easy to maintain. Guests can create great meals for around $10 per person with resources such as our ‘Make it Fit’ and ‘Make it Fun’ nutritional guides. And, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re enjoying a meal with family or friends.”
According to the recently published National Restaurant Association 2009 Restaurant Industry Forecast, Americans are seeking value, convenience and healthier options in restaurants. Among leading trends are improved nutrition and menu choices for kids, as well as increasing popularity of local produce and introduction or enhancement of green initiatives.
The NRA outlook, explained Scharff, bodes well for Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes guests. “Look out for more from Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes in the coming months as far as these emerging and leading trends go,” she said.
