Sweet Tomatoes Invites Guests to Plant their own Sweet ‘Tomatoes’

July 1, 2009 - Within 24 hours of being in the ground, Sweet Tomatoes produce is on a refrigerated truck on its way to the restaurant. The food is made from scratch every day. The salad bar features over 50 fresh ingredients, including specialty tossed and prepared salads and knowing where your food comes from is growing more important.

As part of Sweet Tomatoes’ “Celebrate Salad” month in July, the restaurant is inviting guests to plant their own sweet ‘tomatoes’ to watch them grow and experience the process of growing their own vegetables from start to finish. Sweet Tomatoes will be providing tomato seed packets to families that dine in the restaurant starting July 1st (while supplies last). It’s part of Sweet Tomatoes’ ongoing plan to educate guests on the origins of the ingredients they enjoy at the restaurant.

On Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26 Sweet Tomatoes will provide the soil, planting pots and tomato seeds for the families to do their gardening outside the restaurant. Planting seeds will take place from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Participating Sweet Tomatoes locations include locations in Vancouver at 12601 SE 2nd Circle, Beaverton at 1225 N.W. Waterhouse Ave, Clackamas at 13011 SE 84th St and Lone Tree/ Park Meadows at 9445 Park Meadows Dr. For more information please call your local Sweet Tomatoes restaurant or visit www.sweettomatoes.com.
